Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.  26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:25-26 NKJV

God – the Father, Son and Holy Spirit – is the Source and Creator of life. There is no life apart from God, here on earth or in eternity. The life we have is a gift from Him. Jesus has power over life and death, as well as the power to forgive sins. Through His death on the cross, He conquered death and imparted His resurrection life to those who believe in Him. Death can never conquer this life! Even if your body dies, you will continue to live on in His presence. You will never experience the sting of death!

Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.  25 Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live. 26 For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself, 27 and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man. 28 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice 29 and come forth — those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.  John 5:24-30 NKJV

Jesus said that the dead would hear His voice – He is talking about the spiritually dead who would hear, understand, and accept Him as Savior. The moment you receive Jesus as Lord and Savior, you are “born again” – at that very moment, you pass from death to life, and His resurrection life is activated in you. You are “revived” and eternal or everlasting life is yours from that moment on.

Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, 6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. 7 For he who has died has been freed from sin. 8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, 9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. 11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Romans 6:3-11 NKJV

When you accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, you are baptized – immersed – into Christ. In God’s eyes, you (and your sins) were in him when He died. You were resurrected with Him, but your sins, and your sinful nature, remained in the grave. Now you walk in the newness of life – resurrection life! Jesus has dominion over sin and death – consider yourself dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord!

But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.  1 Corinthians 15:20-22 NKJV

So it is with the resurrection of the dead. [The body] that is sown is perishable and decays, but [the body] that is resurrected is imperishable (immune to decay, immortal). 43 It is sown in dishonor and humiliation; it is raised in honor and glory. It is sown in infirmity and weakness; it is resurrected in strength and endued with power. 44 It is sown a natural (physical) body; it is raised a supernatural (a spiritual) body. [As surely as] there is a physical body, there is also a spiritual body. 45 Thus it is written, The first man Adam became a living being (an individual personality); the last Adam (Christ) became a life-giving Spirit [restoring the dead to life].  1 Corinthians 15:42-45 AMP

Physical death is inevitable, but it cannot keep you down – God promises that when Christ returns, you will be resurrected with Him and live forever in a glorified, supernatural, eternal body.

Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed — 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” 55 “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?” 56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.  1 Corinthians 15:51-57 NKJV

“We shall not all sleep” means that we will not all die – but we will all be changed. When Jesus returns, all believers – whether physically dead or living – will be resurrected into an incorruptible body in a twinkling of an eye. (See also 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18). Death and the grave will never have complete victory over the child of God!

And this is the will of him that sent me, that everyone which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.  John 6:40 KJV

The Word of the Lord Endures Forever

I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.  Psalms 138:2 KJV

God exalts His Word above His own Name! Jesus is the Name above all names. The Word is exalted above the Name of Jesus. Sinners have no respect for the Word of God and, unfortunately, today there are many Christians – even preachers – who do not have the respect for the Word of God that it deserves.

He who despises the word will be destroyed, But he who fears the commandment will be rewarded.  Proverbs 13:13 NKJV
Through the generations, whenever people have had no Word or no access to the Word, there has been spiritual darkness and every form of bondage. On the other hand, when people are able to access the Word of God – spiritual awakening and freedom ensues. The Protestant Reformation was sparked by the Bible being translated into the languages of the people. Today we have no lack of Bibles in every translation, but people today don’t seem to be interested in opening it and reading it. They have too many other distractions and entertainments vying for their attention. The devil doesn’t want us to get into the Word or to get it into us, because the Word of God is what defeats him every time!

God’s Word is forever settled and will never pass away:

Forever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.  Psalms 119:89 KJV

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.  Matthew 24:35 KJV

Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. 24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: 25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.  1 Peter 1:23-25 KJV

Jesus IS the Word:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.  John 1:1-3 KJV

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.  John 1:14 KJV

And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.  Revelation 19:13 KJV

The Word created the universe:

By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.  Psalms 33:6 KJV

Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.  Hebrews 11:3 KJV

The Word is powerful:

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.  Hebrews 4:12 KJV

The Word is trustworthy and proven:

Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven. Your faithfulness endures to all generations; You established the earth, and it abides. They continue this day according to Your ordinances, For all are Your servants. Unless Your law had been my delight, I would then have perished in my affliction. I will never forget Your precepts, For by them You have given me life.  Psalms 119:89-93 NKJV

As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.  Psalms 18:30 NKJV

The Word is Truth:

For the word of the Lord is right, And all His work is done in truth.  Psalms 33:4 NKJV

The entirety of Your word is truth, And every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever.  Psalms 119:160 NKJV

Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.  Psalms 119:160 KJV

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.  Psalms 119:105 KJV

Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.  John 17:17 KJV

The Word is pure:

Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it.  Psalms 119:140 KJV

Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.  Proverbs 30:5 KJV

The Word is righteous:

My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness.  Psalms 119:172 KJV

The Word is life:

This is my comfort and consolation in my affliction: that Your word has revived me and given me life.  Psalms 119:50 AMP

The Word heals:

He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.  Psalms 107:20 NKJV

God keeps His Word:
He hath remembered his covenant forever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.
Psalms 105:8 KJV

So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.  Isaiah 55:11 KJV

Then said the Lord unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.  Jeremiah 1:12 KJV

For I am the Lord: I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall come to pass; it shall be no more prolonged: for in your days, O rebellious house, will I say the word, and will perform it, saith the Lord God.  Ezekiel 12:25 KJV

What Shall I Render to the Lord for All His Benefits Toward Me?

What shall I render to the Lord for all His benefits toward me? [How can I repay Him for all His bountiful dealings?] Psalms 116:12

Gracious is the Lord, and [rigidly] righteous; yes, our God is merciful. 6 The Lord preserves the simple; I was brought low, and He helped and saved me. 7 Return to your rest, O my soul, for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you. 8 For You have delivered my life from death, my eyes from tears, and my feet from stumbling and falling. Psalms 116:5-8

The Lord has been so good to each and every one of us, whether we acknowledge it or not. God is good and only good! How can we repay Him for all His benefits toward us? How can we repay Him for all His bountiful blessings? How can I repay Him for all His benefits and bountiful blessings toward me?

I can repay Him like this:

I will love the Lord:

I love the Lord, because He has heard [and now hears] my voice and my supplications. Psalms 116:1

And He replied to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind (intellect). 38 This is the great (most important, principal) and first commandment.

Matthew 22:37-38 AMP

Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. Jude 21 NKJV

God is pleased when I show my love for him – not with mere lip service – but with heart and with deeds.

I will call upon Him as long as I live:

Because He has inclined His ear to me, therefore will I call upon Him as long as I live. Psalms 116:2

The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him sincerely and in truth. Psalms 145:18 AMP

For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. Romans 10:12 NKJV

Call upon the Father. Look to him for everything you need. He is the source and supply of everything you will ever need. Do not turn to anyone, but Him, for what you need. Do not give praise or love to any other gods or idols. Call upon Him! He is rich to all who call upon Him!

I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living:

I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living. Psalms 116:9

When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, I am the Almighty God; walk and live habitually before Me and be perfect (blameless, wholehearted, complete). Genesis 17:1 AMP

Serve God with all your heart down here on earth. Do not wait until you die to try to start serving Him – it may be too late for you – you may not even make heaven if you won’t serve Him. Live for Him, with all your heart, while you can.

I will take the cup of salvation and call upon the name of the Lord:

I will lift up the cup of salvation and deliverance and call on the name of the Lord. Psalms 116:13

In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes. 1 Corinthians 11:25-26 NKJV

There is only one way to be saved – one way to make heaven. You must drink the cup of HIS salvation. Believe in Jesus and ALL that He did for you in His death, burial, and resurrection!

I will pay my vows to the Lord in public:

I will pay my vows to the Lord, yes, in the presence of all His people. Psalms 116:14&18

Offer to God the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and pay your vows to the Most High, 15 And call on Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall honor and glorify Me. Psalms 50:14-15 AMP

Be faithful with your money. Serve and worship God with it. Make Him first place where your money is concerned. Whoever has your money first, is the person or thing you worship. Worship God, not mammon and idols.

I will offer to the Lord the sacrifice of thanksgiving:

I will offer to You the sacrifice of thanksgiving and will call on the name of the Lord. Psalms 116:17

And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving and rehearse His deeds with shouts of joy and singing! Psalms 107:22 AMP

Always give God the praise. Bring Him sacrifices of thanksgiving for what He has done, for what He is doing, and for what He is about to do. We are to continually give thanks, even as we expect Him to continually watch over, and provide for, us.

I will call upon the name of the Lord:

Moses and Aaron among his priests, and Samuel among them that call upon his name; they called upon the Lord, and he answered them. Psalms 99:6 KJV

O give thanks unto the Lord; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people. Psalms 105:1-2 KJV

And in that day shall ye say, Praise the Lord, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted. Isaiah 12:4 KJV

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21 KJV

Call upon His name. Exalt His name before the people. Give Him all the praise and the honor and the glory for all of time and eternity! Never be quiet when you can speak out and let everyone know how great and how mighty and how awesome He is!

What Is Celebrate America?

Drs. Rodney and Adonica Howard-Browne, with Revival Ministries International, are looking forward to Celebrate America just as they did in the summer of 1999 when, for six weeks consecutively, they rented Madison Square Garden, the world’s most famous arena, for Good News New York!

Drs. Rodney and Adonica Howard-Browne are inviting local churches, the community, and members of government, in which many of them will be sharing their faith, and all nationalities to be a part of Celebrate America. We are celebrating America as she turns 239 years old. During Celebrate America, we will commemorate the Declaration of Independence and what the Constitution of the United States has meant to this land. We will celebrate the heritage of America and our Founding Fathers who acknowledged “firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence.” We will remember The Great Spiritual Awakenings of this land, the impact of which they made, and The Great Awakening that is soon to come. Celebrate America.

Dear Friends,

Drs. Rodney and Adonica Howard-Browne invite you to join them for Celebrate America this July in Washington D.C. at the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Constitution Hall. Just as we looked forward to Good News New York in the summer of 1999 at Madison Square Garden, we are looking forward to this event.

Local churches, the community, members of government (many of whom will be sharing their faith), all Americans, and anyone, from any nation, who loves America, are invited to be a part of Celebrate America. We are celebrating America as she turns 238 years old. During these 14 days of Celebrate America, we will commemorate the United States Declaration of Independence and what the Constitution of the United States has meant to this land. We will celebrate the heritage of America and our Founding Fathers who acknowledged “firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence.” We will remember the Great Spiritual Awakenings of this land, the impact they made, and The Great Awakening that is soon to come.

Pastors, leaders, church groups, youth groups, and all believers, all around America, we ask you to begin praying for America, her leaders, and for Celebrate America. And we also encourage you to make plans to join us and to be a part of this very timely event.

The evening meetings are at 7 PM; admission is free. In the mornings, Power Evangelism will take place at 10 AM. Call, email, Facebook, and Tweet your friends and family to attend and to get involved; volunteers are needed. Sign up today.
